Excerpt:
A few months ago an excited young woman, whom we will
call Cindy, told us that she planned to marry soon. The
man of her dreams had entered her life, and she anticipated
along and fruitful life with this wonderful person. Perhaps
she faced the future a little more realistically than many
prospective brides; she wanted to learn from our life experience.
She added this comment: Weve got to get it right
because theres not going to be another one.
As we reflect on Cindys thoughtful insight, we find
our-selves rewinding our memory tapes back to our own wed-ding
plans many years ago.
Like Cindy, we thought it had to
be right. Like Cindy, we didnt think there might be
a better partnership arrangement at a later date. We knew
we would vow to live with each other until death do
us part and we intended to honor that vow. A few years
down the road we came to realize we didnt get
it right. Tensions developed. Issues went unresolved.
Communication broke down. Someone else entered the picture.
Before it was over, our marriage was severely damaged by
infidelity. The wounds and scars have long since healed,
and our marriage has been in a growth mode for a long time.
God gave us an opportunity to mend our messed up marriage.
We know that a seriously endangered marriage can be rescued,
but its far better to prevent the damage from occurring....
This workbook is intended to be a resource for couples who
want to prevent infidelity.

What the Reviewers are saying about Affair-Proofing
Your Marriage...
Writing out of the
agony and ecstasy of their yesterdays, this husband and
wife writing team expose their own marital struggles with
eye-popping candor. Their story will grab your heart. Uniquely
qualified to address the terrorist assaults of pride, envy,
blind spots and selfishness that can sabotage a covenant
partnership, Norman and Ann provide practical, author-tested
principles that couples can immediately begin to implement.
The exercises and study questions for group study will provide
a wealth of opportunities to share the joys and heartaches
common to everyone who wants to affair-proof their marriage.
The writing is direct, straightforward and solidly anchored
in Scripture. Its a user-friendly guide for couples
who are in a relationship of mutual commitment and want
their marriage to still be vibrant long after the nest is
empty, the libido is waning and the infirmities are abundant.

I have known, loved and worked with the Bales for
close to two decades now. Their walk with the Lord has been
an encouragement to my husband and me. Numerous ones of
my clients have benefited from their love and wisdom.
In Affair-Proofing
Your Marriage, Norman and Ann have captured the essence
of the intentionality which is essential to preventing an
affair and building a successful marriage. I appreciate
their transparency in sharing their very painful experience
in the hope that others would be healed. They masterfully
reference the Holy Scriptures as they relate their path
toward wholeness, illustrating that God does have the answer
for our marriages. Preachers, pastors and leaders need to
regularly address the health of the family in their churches.
Affair-Proofing Your Marriage is an excellent tool for this
purpose.
